Define the result before the agent
Pick one recurring job and describe its accepted inputs and expected output. A 'research agent' is broad. A weekly supplier brief with source links, explicit uncertainty, and a review step is testable. The narrower the promise, the easier it is to measure usefulness and operating cost.
Choose the layer you need
Langflow is a visual platform for AI agents and workflows, with an MIT-licensed repository. LangGraph is an MIT-licensed orchestration framework for stateful agents, including durable execution and human review patterns. Start with the simplest approach that fits your workflow. More orchestration is not automatically a better product.
Make failures visible
Set a time limit, a usage limit, and a clear error state. Keep model credentials on the server. Add human approval before a workflow sends a message, changes an external account, or spends money. Record the version of your workflow and keep an evaluation set so a change can be compared against the previous result.
Sell the outcome you can support
For the first pilot, agree exactly what the service produces and what remains the customer's decision. Measure task success, support time, and total operating cost. Use those observations to decide whether the service should be a subscription, a managed service, or a component in a larger product.
